My Pump worked for some time, but has now quit.

If the Pump on your AeroGarden Classic or Pro worked for months but suddenly quit during the growth of a Seed Kit, and you are positive that your Pump is not just in an “off” cycle (click here to see a chart of the Timing of the Light and Pump Cycles), chances are one of three things has happened:

1) The Pump has lost contact with its power source.

2) The Pump has drawn a chunk of undissolved nutrients or roots up into the impeller and jammed.

3) The Pump has failed.

1) The Pump has lost contact with its power source.

There are two small metal contacts where the back of the Bowl meets the Lamp Arm, through which the Pump receives its electrical power. If these contacts become bent or corroded, they can lose their ability to conduct power to the Pump. To check these contacts, follow this procedure:

1) If you own an AeroGarden Classic or Deluxe, set your AeroGarden plant selection to Salad Greens. If you have an AeroGarden Pro, set it to the Super Grow cycle (to do this, set it on Strawberries, and then hold down the Select button until the select light starts to flash. Release the button, and your Pro is set to Super Grow). On these settings the Pump is programmed to run continuously, and you can be sure that it is not just in an “off” cycle.

2) UNPLUG THE AEROGARDEN.

3) Lift the Bowl up and then out off the Base, setting the Bowl aside.

4) Look at the two contacts on the front of the Lamp Arm. If they are undamaged, they should look like this:

If the contacts appear undamaged, scroll down to 2), below.

5) If the contacts are bent, they will look something like this:

If the contacts are bent, double-check to make sure your AeroGarden is unplugged, and then use a screwdriver to gently pry the bent contact back into shape. Contacts can become bent if the Bowl is not lifted up a little bit before being removed from the base.

If the contacts are corroded, click here for instructions for how to clean the contacts.

6) Place the Bowl carefully back on the Base, and plug the AeroGarden back in.

Listen for the Pump to begin cycling water. You can also check to see if water is running by lifting a pod out of its hole and seeing if water if flowing out of the little spout on the rim of the hole.

If water is flowing, your Pump is now running fine and will cycle on and off as it should. If water is not flowing, proceed to 2) below:

2) The Pump has drawn a chunk of undissolved nutrients or roots up into the impeller and jammed.

If the Pump contacts are good but water is not flowing, you may need to clean plant roots or undissolved nutrient chunks out of the Pump. For instructions on how to clean your AeroGarden Pump, please click here.

3) The Pump has failed.
