Installing the Trellis System on a Non-Trellis-Ready

Hood (Using Dual Lock™ Fasteners)

If your Lamp Hood is not pre-drilled for screws, DO NOT DRILL HOLES IN IT. The Trellis System can be installed using our Dual Lock™ Fastener System. This may be purchased from AeroGrow at 800-476-9669.

You should have four identical strips of Dual Lock™ Fastener. It does not matter which strip goes where, as it does not have a “positive” and a “negative” side as hook-and-loop fasteners do.

To begin, peel the backing off one strip of Dual Lock™ Fastener. Carefully stick it onto the Lamp Hood, positioning it as shown below:

 

Peel another strip of Dual Lock™ Fastener, and affix it to the Trellis Bracket. Be sure you affix it to the Bracket as oriented in the photo below:

 IMPORTANT: You MUST let the adhesive dry for 24 hours before snapping the Dual Lock™ on the Bracket together with the Dual Lock™ on the Lamp Hood.

If your AeroGarden is currently planted with a Seed Kit, even though the Bracket is not fastened to the Lamp Hood yet, you should reinstall the Lamp Hood onto the Lamp Arm, plug the Lamp Cord back in, and plug the AeroGarden back in, so that your plants will continue to receive light while the Dual Lock™ adhesive is drying.

After 24 hours, you can snap the Trellis Bracket onto the Lamp Hood by squeezing the two installed pieces of Dual Lock™ Fastener together. It takes a fair amount of pressure to do this, so you may again need to unplug the AeroGarden and remove the Lamp Hood in order to snap the Bracket in place. It is easiest to apply pressure at one end first, and as you feel it snap into place, continue pressing along the length of the strip until the full length of the Dual Lock™ is snapped together.

After the Trellis Brackets are installed, you can snap the Trellis Coils into the square holes as shown in the “Trellis-Ready Hood” section above.

You can adjust the location of the Trellis Coils as desired, using any of the square holes. It may be easier to see where their optimal location will be after the Hood is back in place.

Reinstall the Hood onto the Lamp Arm, plug the Lamp Cord back in, and plug the AeroGarden back in.

The clear plastic loops can now be snapped in place around any plant stem that you wish to support.
