My AeroGarden has become noisy.

If you have a 7-Pod AeroGarden (with 7 openings in the Grow Surface) and it has begun to make noise, then the Pump that cycles the water has probably drawn a chunk of undissolved nutrients (or possibly plant roots) up into the impeller. For detailed written instructions on how to clean your Pump, please click here. To watch a video of how to clean your AeroGarden Pump, click here.

If you have a 6-Pod AeroGarden (with 6 openings in the Grow Surface) that has begun to make noise, the noise is coming either from the airstone or the solenoid air pump contained in the Base of the AeroGarden. To determine which it is, lift the AeroGarden Bowl up off the Base and set it to one side (it may be good to rest it over a large jar or cereal bowl to support the Grow Surface without popping out the Grow Pods).

  • If the AeroGarden stops making noise, then the trouble is with the airstone or the internal connecting hose. If this is the case, lift the Grow Surface (with the plants) off the Bowl and set it aside. Check inside the Bowl and make sure the U-tube is pushed all the way down onto its coupling, and then pull the airstone off the airhose. Replace the Bowl on the Base, and the noise should have stopped. if the problem was the airstone, you may either clean the airstone or replace it. It is also possible to leave the airstone off and run the AeroGarden without it, provided you ensure that the bottom of the air tube remains under water and is providing bubbles to the bowl. For instructions on how to clean the airstone, click here. If the noise continues after cleaning, replacing or removing the airstone, please call Customer Service at 800-476-9669 and one of our agents will assist you.

  • If the noise continues after removing the Bowl from the Base, the trouble is with the air pump within the Base, and is not user-serviceable. Please contact Customer Service at 800-476-9669 and one our agents will assist you.

If you have a 3-Pod AeroGarden (with 3 openings in the Grow Surface) that has begun to make noise, first determine if it has an internal U-tube or an external airhose connecting to the back of the Bowl.

  • If you have an AeroGarden 3 with a U-tube inside the Bowl, proceed through the instructions given above for the 6-Pod AeroGardens.

  • If your AeroGarden 3 or Mini has an external air hose connecting the Base to the Bowl (that you must disconnect in order to remove the Bowl) please contact Customer Service at 1-800-476-9669 and one of our agents will be happy to assist you.
