My nutrient tablets were crumbled or wet when I opened them.
Occasionally we receive reports of nutrient tablets that have crumbled or have become wet while still in the package. The nutrients are quite hydroscopic, which means they can absorb moisture from the air. If they have been transported or stored in a humid environment, they can become sticky.
If this has happened to your nutrients and the liquid or sticky substance is still contained in the bag, they will be fine to use, provided you follow the procedure below at each feeding:
- Fill a cup or mug with about a cup of tepid water.
- Cut a twin-pack bag containing two nutrient tablets in half with a pair of scissors.
- Put the two tablets in the cup of water.
- Rinse the inside of the bag in that same cup of water, flushing out any sticky residue, which contains valuable nutrients, into the water.
- Pour the cup of water with the nutrient tablets into the AeroGarden Bowl, taking care not to spill any. If any residue is left in the bottom of the cup, use a bit more fresh water to assure that all the nutrient makes it into the AeroGarden with no residue left in the cup.
- To prevent further absorption of moisture, place the remaining unopened strip of nutrient tablets into a clean, dry container with a tight-fitting lid and store them in the freezer until needed.
If your nutrient tablets have leaked out of the bag, please contact Customer Service at 800-476-9669 and one of our agents will be happy to assist you.
